Log/Chip Trailers

Log/Chip Trailers are dual purpose trailers that allow us to haul logs to a sawmill and then convert the trailer to haul wood chips for the way back.

This practice makes sense on many levels. It saves our customer's money in fuel costs and reduces the amount of emissions, making it an environmentally friendlier choice. Log/Chip Trailers emitt 0.033 lbs less of CO2 per mile than two conventional units.

The projected reductions for April 2005 to April 2006 using a Dual Use B-train to replace two conventional units on the Hinton-Sundre haul are +/- 1,760,000 litres of fuel and at $0.75 per litre, the customer will save approximately $1,320,000 in fuel costs per year alone. In the first full year of operation the dual use trailer operation could reduce carbon dioxide emissions into the environment by +/- 2,640,000 kgs according to a FERIC Statistic.
